Originally, this blog charted the journey of Ancho and Lefty from Bath County, Kentucky to Costa Rica in their trusty 1993 Toyota Pick-Up Truck lovingly known as Bessie. Ancho has returned to the USA to work and Lefty remains in Costa Rica finishing up her dissertation fieldwork. Soon, she will reunite with Ancho, who in her absence from home has taken up with seven women- Lefty's cat, Poe Poe Kitty, and six Red Star Hens.
We depart in 9 days. This is our first attempt to establish a blog site to pen our experiences on the road from Owingsville, Kentucky to San Ignacio de Acosta, Costa Rica via the Pan American Highway. We hope this works so that our friends and family can keep up with our travels. Happy New Year everyone!

Ancho and Lefty are not registered trademarks. "Ancho" refers to a type of chili. "Lefty" does not refer to a proclivity to write with one hand or the other. Ancho remodels. Lefty anthropologizes.
