Originally, this blog charted the journey of Ancho and Lefty from Bath County, Kentucky to Costa Rica in their trusty 1993 Toyota Pick-Up Truck lovingly known as Bessie. Ancho has returned to the USA to work and Lefty remains in Costa Rica finishing up her dissertation fieldwork. Soon, she will reunite with Ancho, who in her absence from home has taken up with seven women- Lefty's cat, Poe Poe Kitty, and six Red Star Hens.
Ancho's photo really captures our steep hike on El Dragon, one of the bigger mountains near by. A family from the community we live in went with us and we had a great day, except when Lefty (I) freaked out on the side of a rock and began hyperventilating because I had vertigo. Luckily, good old calm Ancho guided me to safety and sanity, as usual. It was a beautiful day.

Ancho and Lefty are not registered trademarks. "Ancho" refers to a type of chili. "Lefty" does not refer to a proclivity to write with one hand or the other. Ancho remodels. Lefty anthropologizes.
