Do not feed the animals

Ancho found this dude sleeping on one of our paperbacks. He actually picked up the paperback before he realized he was also holding a scorpion. Yes, we have great weather here, but also little creatures like this dude who make you think twice about walking to the bathroom barefoot in the middle of the night.

Cerro Chato Lodge

This is Carmen, of Cerro Chato Lodge. We stayed at the hotel that she and her husband Miguel run outsid of La Fortuna. It is the best value I have found there. I really liked their family. Their little boy had a bicycle accident the day we arrived and his face was pretty banged up. It reminded me of the time my brother dove into the bedpost and earned two black eyes... of course I don't actually remember that because I was about 6 months old probably, but I have seen the photos nonetheless. We stayed there two nights... a quick trip to visit with one of my best friend's parents.

Where we live

At the bottom of this photo you can just make out some light patches of rooftops. This is where we live. As you may be able to tell, there's up and then there's down and there is very little flatland. I took this photo from the farm across the river.

Ancho, perplexed again

Our new friend turns back to bid us whipper snappers to hurry it up. He took us up to his farm this past Friday morning. What fun! He farms off the beaten path for sure. Even Bessie, our fair truck, could not get to this place. We walked part of the way from Bessie, who stayed in the woods and watched the birds. A lot of the land around his farm was owned by his father. It is really beautiful property and from there we can look down and across the river to our community.
