Originally, this blog charted the journey of Ancho and Lefty from Bath County, Kentucky to Costa Rica in their trusty 1993 Toyota Pick-Up Truck lovingly known as Bessie. Ancho has returned to the USA to work and Lefty remains in Costa Rica finishing up her dissertation fieldwork. Soon, she will reunite with Ancho, who in her absence from home has taken up with seven women- Lefty's cat, Poe Poe Kitty, and six Red Star Hens.
This morning I was called to the scene of a workparty ripping lumber for a house being constructed down in the river bottom. These oxen were one of two sets on the scene who had the really hard job of pulling the felled trees to the saw.

Ancho and Lefty are not registered trademarks. "Ancho" refers to a type of chili. "Lefty" does not refer to a proclivity to write with one hand or the other. Ancho remodels. Lefty anthropologizes.

I, Lefty snapped the pic. I think the oxen here are particularly beautiful. Yes mamasita, I got your mail. We had a good trip into San Jose last night. Our hotel was inexpensive and it had cable, so we watched the game, came back early this morning and hauled about 13 people (little kids, teens, and two adults) to the river to swim all day. It is Semana Santa and everyone is in vacation mode. The river was great fun. We just got back. I am going to a church service here in the community this evening and then there are more services early tomorrow. Hope the cats play well tomorrow! The games last night were awesome, what a treat to get to watch them live. Happy Easter everyone! Mamasita, how is my kitty cat?
